Wikio welcome me back into the top 100

Well thanks go to Mark Pack for bringing this to my attention, but the wikio ranking see me back inside the top 100 political blogs. With some difficulty getting Wikio to accept the new address initially, taking time out from blogging really cutting stuff while I worked for Yes! to Fairer Votes with an array of parties and the fact that some people still link to http://linlithgow-libdems.blogspot.com instead of

http://stephensliberaljournal.blogspot.com

hasn't made things easy. But I am back at number 95 I'll be looking to see how that improves over the next few months see if I can get back into the top 50 once again.

The Wikio MacBlogopshere Rankings March 2010

The March political Wikio Rankings are out, so before I head into the conference hall in Perth for day two of the Scottish Lib Dem Conference I'm going to have a quick look at how us Scottish bloggers are doing.

The trend this month is a lot of minor slippage at the top end Tom Harris remains top but slips down one spot. The cute Greek baby who used to own the number 16 spot has dipped out of the top 20, Alex Massie and Subrosa both drop one spot. Jeff returns to the top 40. Bishop Hill jumps a couple of spots and is not breathing down my neck. Caron slips and Andrew climbs up just behind her in what is the flux of the top three Lib Dem blogs.

Scottish Round Up has a far better second 'album' month in the listings that Andrew Neill. Of the three PPCs on the list only James climbs this month. Yousuf who was edging towards dropping out of the top 100 bounces back strong, but Underdog Bites Upwards will need to rise upwards again having slipped out of the top 100.

As usual here is the complete list with last month's rankings in brackets.

1. Tom Harris MP And another Thing... 7 (6)
2. Mr Eugenides 21 (17)
3. Alex Massie's Spectator Blog 27 (26)
4. Subrosa 29 (28)
5. SNP Tactical Voting 32 (41)
6. Stephen's Linlithgow Journal 48 (48)
7. Bishop Hill 49 (62)
8. Caron's Musings 62 (58)
9. Andrew Reeve's Running Blog 65 (80)
10. Scottish Round Up 68 (84)
11. Andrew Neill's Blog 74 (67)
12. Ranting Rab 79 (77)
13. Two Doctors 86 (88)
14. Yapping Yousuf 96 (96)

See you same time, same blog next month folks.

MacBlogopshere Wikio Rankings February

They are here the February political Wikio Rankings. Last month I finished with "So until next time when the snow may or may not still be with us, bon chance, bon spiel and careful how you go." Well the snow has largely gone around me except where it was heaped up, yes we still have some of the snow that fell in December with us in February, the Bonspiel didn't 'officially' happen, and some of you have had one or two minor mishaps.

First up apologies for last Month missing off Captain Ranty who entered the top 100 at 80. Sadly this month he has just slipped out of the top 100 to 108. So belated welcome for last month, maybe you'll climb back into the top 100 next month, these rankings are quite volatile, well apart from Tom Harris who is wedged into 6th spot again and the Cute Greek Baby who has climbed one spot back to 16th.

However, there are two Scottish new entries this month that I did pick up on. First up if we are counting Alex Massie, and we are, we'll have to count Andrew Neill as well who appears at number 67. Maybe he'll prompt Brian Turner to add himself to Wikio and we can have a journalistic competition in the MacBlogosphere as far as Wikio goes. The other new entry is Scottish Round Up at 84.

Using the Scotblogs Political Rankings as a guide how have our top 25 done.

Numero Uno SNP Tactical Voting is only 5th by Wikio, the Cute Greek Baby is second in both. We drop to 6th Scot Blog and find the 3rd in Wikio for Mr Massie. Caron followed him and was the top Lib Dem but Wikio has her dropping behind me (21st Scotblogs) again this month, but then she does say seven is her lucky number*. Subrosa was last of our top ten to make the Wikio charts at 4th.

The absence of J Arthur Macnumpty, Go Lassie Go, Lallands Peat Worrier (172), Gerry Hassan and Indygal Goes to Holyrood (183) from our top Wikio blogs is because three of them have not listed themselves on Wikio while the other two as indicated in brackets are in the lower reaches of the Top 200. Although you can submit a site to be added to Wikio at http://www.wikio.co.uk/addsource

Yousuf scraped into the Scotblogs at 25 and slipped again in the Wikio rankings as our lowest but 15th Scot to 96.

Tom Harris, Bishop Hill, Ranting Rab, Andrew Reeves, Underdog Bites Upwards and Two Doctors are all in the Wikio list(Mr Harris as is customary at the top) but didn't feature in the Top 25 Political ScotBlogs. Therefore in the space of a week we have two very different looking lists showing the strength in depth of the Scottish political bloggers.

As usual here is the complete list with last month's rankings in brackets.

1. Tom Harris MP And another Thing... 6 (6)
2. Mr Eugenides 17 (18)
3. Alex Massie's Spectator Blog 26 (25)
4. Subrosa 28 (26)
5. SNP Tactical Voting 41 (35)
6. Stephen's Linlithgow Journal 48 (50)
7.
Caron's Musings 58 (46)
8. Bishop Hill 62 (56)
9. NEW Andrew Neill's Blog 67
10. Ranting Rab 77 (70)
11. Andrew Reeve's Running Blog 80 (75)
12. Underdog Bites Upwards81 (71)
13. NEW Scottish Round Up 84< href="http://twodoctors.org/">Two Doctors 88 (73)
15. Yapping Yousuf 96 (88)

See you same time, same blog next month folks.

* BTW Caron is also 7th Lib Dem UK-wide in Wikio rankings this month

The Wikio MacBlogopshere Rankings January

Happy New Year. Happy New decade and welcome to the first MacBlogopshere Wikio political rankings for 2010

First up I am going to start with an apology, with all the anticipation of the Bon Spiel being playable this year for the first time since 1979 I stumbled across Bishop Hill. Who describes himself as "not a bishop... not actually called Hill either...but an Englishman who lives in rural Scotland" who should have been on previous listings.

So at the top Tom Harris has retaken the number 6 spot from Tory Bear to great rejoicing. That Cute GreekBaby clearly can't handle all this ice and snow and has slipped from number 16 where he has been entrenched down to 18. Even our top journo Alex Massie has continued to slide going down to number 25.

However, it is hot on his heals that we find a name that I wasn't expected to see this month. Last month I wrote:

"With the Dundee wifey and the Burghmeister hanging up their keyboards and undoubtedly about to start dropping down and out of the top 100 we do wonder who is going to step up to join this group in the top 100 next."

Clearly the shutting up shop an reopening tactic is a good one she has climbed 14 to 26. Jeff, who is about to head to Londinium (but we'll still count him as one of us) took a well earned rest at the end of the month and slips 5 places, as do Caron and I. Bishop Hill is next up at 55 dropping just on on last month.

Rantin' Rab is clearly more firm footed and stays at 70, while Underdog slips in just behind. With Two Doctors and Andrew Reeves climbing in just behind to make 4 Scottish blogs between 70 and 75.

UPDATE: When Subrosa was giving the sneak preview of February's rankings I appears that Captain Ranty from Aberdeenshire is at nuber 80. Oops. He will not be overlooked in future.

Yousuf has had the worst month of any of us within the rankings, slipping to 88th and being the last Scot in the top 100. The Burgmeister has waved cheerio oh to the top 100 having hung up his keyboard. If he returns who knows where he may end up.

As usual here is the complete list with last month's rankings in brackets.

1. Tom Harris MP And another Thing... 6 (7)
2. Mr Eugenides 18 (16)
3. Alex Massie's Spectator Blog 25 (22)
4. Subrosa 26 (40)
5. SNP Tactical Voting 35 (30)
6. Caron's Musings 46 (41)
7. Stephen's Linlithgow Journal 50 (45)
8. Bishop Hill 56 (55)
9. Ranting Rab 70 (70)
10. Underdog Bites Upwards 71 (61)
11. Two Doctors 73 (78)
12. Andrew Reeve's Running Blog 75 (76)
13. Captain Ranty 80 (120)
14. Yapping Yousuf 88 (77)

So until next time when the snow may or may not still be with us, bon chance, bon spiel and careful how you go.

The Wikio MacBlogopshere Rankings December

It is that time of the month again Wikio have announced the the political rankings for December. With Hogmanay approaching at the end of the month everyone really wants to be a Scotsman or woman this month, but not all of the bloggers can be so what has actually happened this month.

The same 13 blogs still represent the best of Scottish blogging inside the top 100 and indeed we almost have 10, 11 or 12 within the top 75. Yes 76-78 is the new grouping of Scots.

For a change I have to report that Tom Harris has moved, sadly for all concerned it is downwards, and also rather sadly it is because Tory Bear has overtaken him. Elsewhere the Cute Greek seems to be permanently stuck in a sea of calm on 16 while all around him is volatile. Our Top Scottish Journalist blogger after his meteroric rise into the top 20 last month drops down again out of it this.

Jeff of SNP Tactical Voting continues to forge new ground this month he edges into the the top 30 for the first time. Caron overtakes me and indeed is knocking on the top of the top 40 equally her highest ever position first reached in October. My internet and laptop issues see my expected drop almost back to where I was in October.

Rantin Rab displaces the Two Doctors by reaching 70, and Andrew Reeves and Yousuf also sneak past the Green.

Of the dearly departed or resting blogs Subrosa climbed on a par with Caron and departs us just in the top 40, Malc drops slightly as well to 93.

As usual here is the complete list with last month's rankings in brackets.

1. Tom Harris MP And another Thing... 7 (6)
2. Mr Eugenides 16 (16)
3. Alex Massie's Spectator Blog 22 (19)
4. SNP Tactical Voting 30(33)
5. Subrosa 40 (43)
6. Caron's Musings 41 (44)
7. Stephen's Linlithgow Journal 45 (34)
8. Underdog Bites Upwards 61 (70)
9. Ranting Rab 70 (78)
10. Andrew Reeve's Running Blog 76 (91)
11. Yapping Yousuf 77 (83)
12. Two Doctors 78 (74)
13. Malc in the Burgh 93 (87)

With the Dundee wifey and the Burghmeister hanging up their keyboards and undoubtedly about to start dropping down and out of the top 100 we do wonder who is going to step up to join this group in the top 100 next.

Wikio MacBlogosphere Rankings November

It is that time of the month again Wikio have announced the the political rankings for November. So it time for me to put on the kilt, listen to the scurl of the pipes and see how the rest of those canny Scots have faired.

The answer is not bad, not bad at all. There are now 5 in the top 40 one more than last month, 9 in the top 75 two more than last month and a grand total of 13 of the top 100 again two more than last month.

Non-moving yet again is Tom Harris will the top Parliamentarian ever make that break into the top 5. I will count Alex Massie after forgetting his last month and he really has soared climbing 26 places to enter the top twenty breathing down the cute Greek Baby's neck.

Jeff of SNP Tactical Voting has risen a further 7 to number 33 keeping his place as the top Nationalist, but I am right behind him having climbed 13, meaning I've overtaken Caron, who's had a tough month health-wise, as the top Lib Dem. Though Subrosa losing the one place she'd gained last month moves just ahead of Caron to become the top Scottish woman blogger.

Underdog Bites Upwards is the highest new entry at 70, having been hovering at 102 last month. Wonder which Scot is lurking there this month as Two Doctors was there in September before entering the top 100. The month he has climbed 8 to 74, leaping over Ranting Rob who also enters the top 80.

Yousuf is a non-mover, Malc climbs 4, Andrew Reeves makes it a hat trick of Lib Dems with his entry at 91.

As usual here is the complete list with last month's rankings in brackets.

1. Tom Harris MP And another Thing... 6 (6)
2. Mr Eugenides 16 (16)
3. Alex Massie's Spectator Blog 19 (45)
4. SNP Tactical Voting 33 (40)
5. Stephen's Linlithgow Journal 34 (47)
6. Subrosa 43 (42)
7. Caron's Musings 44 (41)
8. Underdog Bites Upwards 70 (102)
9. Two Doctors 74 (82)
10. Ranting Rab 78 (81)
11. Yapping Yousuf 83 (83)
12. Malc in the Burgh 87 (91)
13. Andrew Reeve's Running Blog 91 (139)

Well done one and all the Scottish Blogopshere really is going from strength to strength and there is some amazing and diverse blogs holding their own and advancing up the rankings.

Wikio MacBlogopsphere Rankings October

Things are really heating up in the October Wikio Political Blog Rankings with the Scottish Blogs especially in the midfield SNP Tactical Voting has climbed 6 places to enter the top 40 for the first time at 40, hot on his heels is Caron's Musings climbing 20 to 41, Subrosa has climbed but just one spot to 42, and fighting to keep up is me at 47 up 5. Is it possible that the other three of us could join Jeff in the top 40 next month?
With Tom Harris at 6 and the Cute Greek Baby at 16 that is 6 of the top 50 from Scotland a credible 12% so the Scots are punching above their weight. The full list of the Scottish Blogs in the top 100 is below, last month's ran in brackets.
Lower Down James of the Two Doctors storms into the top 100 at 82 overtaking some of last months new entries. However, Amused Cynicism has dropped out of the hot 100.
2. Mr Eugenides 16 (15)
3. SNP Tactical Voting 40 (46)
4. Caron's Musings 41 (61)
5. Subrosa 42 (43)
6. Stephen's Linlithgow Journal 47 (52)
7. Ranting Rab 81 (115)
8. Two Doctors 82 (102)
9. Yapping Yousuf 83 (96)
10. Malc in the Burgh 91 (100)
Of course there is also Alex Massie's Spectator Blog at number 45, have we been ignoring him, does he count as being Scottish? Opinions please?

Update: Malc pointed out Ranting Rab another new entry I'd overlooked in going down the list looking for familiar names.
(I'll add all the links later when I have time)

MacWikio Political Blogging September

I'm probably stealing Caron's thunder but I've just noticed that this months political Wikio Rankings have been counted and verified and updated on all out sidebars. So how are the Scots doing in the political realm (as I know others are looking at the Lib Dems). So taking a quick look down the top 100.

1 = Tom Harris: And Another Thing... 6 (10 +4)
2 = Cute Greek Baby 15 (18 +3)
3 = Subrosa 43 (64 +21)
4 +1 SNP Tactical Voting 46 (69 +23)
5 -1 Stephen's Linlithgow Journal 52 (68 +16)
6 = Caron's Musings 61 (76 +15)
7 NE Yapping Yousuf 96 (-)
8 -1 Amused Cynicism 99 (85 -14)
9 NE Malc in the Burgh 100 (-)

So a pretty good month all round only Cabalmat has gone down, Yousuf and Malc make their debuts in the top 100. Jeff might be denying flaws in the Wikio system this month having climbed above me. Although as he features in top 10 Total Politics lists for last month and I don't we shall see what October's list brings. The midfield battle is interesting Subrosa and Jeff for the Nats, myself and Caron for the Lib Dems.

I do wonder who that tenth Scottish Blog is, if you have an idea please let me know in the comments. I see Andrew Reeves is bubbling under at 119. Anyone in the 18 spots ahead of that.
